Hi Friends! We are in the middle of an amazing trip to Hawaii...and are just loving every second of it! I posted this on our Facebook page just as a PSA to our amazing clients, but wanted to let you know here as well that we are currently on vacation thru February 23. BUT we absolutely have access to our emails while away. Because of the time difference and days spent sightseeing and exploring, emails may not be returned until later in the evening, but please feel free to contact us to set up your session, or let us know if you do have any questions about our services! We hare having the time of our lives here, but cannot wait for our upcoming sessions with our wonderful bride and grooms/families/seniors!
This past summer, I had the honor of photographing Kory and Chelsea for their engagement session in Marquette, Michigan. It was a gorgeous day and we started off shooting at downtown Marquette and ending up down by Lake Superior. They are a beautiful couple, and their wedding day coming up later this year is going to be even more perfect than this gorgeous engagement.
This Upper Peninsula wedding we were honored to photograph this past summer in Curtis, Michigan was gorgeous. Like, a fairytale. All the details, and the reception tent by itself was just about a castle! But the icing on the cake was the beautiful couple...Emily and Josh are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet, and I loved getting to photograph their winter engagement to this perfect wedding day.
New Years Day is a great day to start out a new year with celebration. And a perfect day to say "I Do." The full blog post is coming on this one (soon!) but for now, enjoy a few of the images from a gorgeous holiday wedding <3
We started out at the ceremony location, St. Gregory's in Newberry, Michigan, a gorgeous place to be in the Upper Peninsula in the middle of winter!
This next image I love because it was literally ONE minute after that kiss at the alter (above). So perfectly happy!!
The next two images are super special because A) this is on my family property and B) the bride had a pinterest page with images just like this...the tall trees...and I was so thrilled to let her know I had *just* the spot. Oh, and C) this road is not plowed during the winter but it has been so mild out the snow wasn't super deep yet and thanks to one of the groom's relatives with a large truck, we made it!
My fave...how gorgeous are these ladies?!
A few moments, in their newlywed world, just the two of them <3
Christmas Day in the Upper Peninsula is typically all things snow. And cold. And snow. Lots of it. This year is pretty much the opposite with above average temps and not a flake on the ground (see my previous personal blog post about our tree adventure!). So for a special Christmas adventure, we all piled in the car for a trek up to Lake Superior. One our most special and favorite places.
This girl <3 Kelsey is a beautiful woman, inside and out, and I just loved shooting her senior portraits! She's got a killer smile, amazing style, and seriously...those softball ones? I wished we had more time before our light ran out, because she was amazing in every single shot!
Every year since before I was born, during the Christmas season my family has a wonderful tradition for picking out our tree. We never went to the traditional tree farms to pick out the perfect one, or gone to one of the local stores that carries the pre-cut trees. Growing up in a lumberjack family, you go out in the woods and cut one yourself. My parent's house is on 40 acres, with the back yard being nothing but swamp and woods. And it's here where we trek year after year in search of our tree.
This year is a little different. Usually there's a ton of snow already we have to walk thru and it does make it harder. It was in the 40's today and not a trace of snow, so we walked out into the woods to find our perfect tree. And since my phone was dead, an easier walk not having to worry about the snow, and in celebration of being caught up on sessions (save for the ones I shot this weekend), I brought the big camera along to document it!
Side note: we only picked out the tree today. Tomorrow we chop it!
A gorgeous, simple, laid back wedding on the shores of Lake Superior...one of the gorgeous weddings we shot this summer in Grand Marais is featured on Midwestbride.com! Check out the link below <3

I love all the weddings we do...from the big to the small, the elaborate to simple. I think my brides all do an amazing job at making their weddings just the way they want and I love capturing it all. So when I get to tell my bride that their amazing wedding is being featured at theknot.com, that is even more amazing for the both of us!
Check out or recent wedding we did in Marquette, Michigan along Lake Superior. It was so special and wonderful. Full blog post is a few posts down on our page, but you can catch the "full" story from the bride and groom HERE on theknot.com
Kristine and Kevin are one of those couples that are just so much fun...sweet to be around, and even better, so lovely to photograph! They came to see me all the way from Wisconsin for our engagement session at Fayette State Park in Garden, MI. It was a gorgeous evening and I had the best time at the session!
Emily, class of 2016! This gorgeous girl is all the way from Green Bay, and wanted to have her senior pictures done in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I don't blame her...I get to live in one of the purest, most gorgeous places in the world! A photographer's dream, for sure. We did her session while she was up visiting family and friends in the Marquette area. We varied her session with a few different locations and she was just glowing in all of them. Here are some of my favorites...
Allison and Brad's wedding couldn't have been more perfect...a small, intimate wedding with their closest family and friends, saying "I do" in one of the most beautiful places in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on a gorgeous summer evening was picture perfect. This was a shorter wedding for us, but one of our favorites!
What a great start to the weekend already! This morning one of my favorites of my husband and son was included in the list of weekly favorite images from Beyond the Wanderlust blog! (If you don't know what that is, its an amazing website/blog that inspires other photographers, and shares so much incredible talent from other fellow photographers. I'm so honored to be included in that group this week <3
Check out their list (click on the square below) to view our "father/son" image along with the other amazing artists!
Hello friends! Its good to give yourself a new look from time to time, right? In the history of Rockhill Studio, we've never updated our logo! Sure, we've updated websites and such (this one just updated a few months ago!) but its been on my mind to update our logo for a while now.
I've just been nervous to.
No really sure why, but its kind of a big deal for me! I didn't want to go with anything too "cutesy" photographer, I don't mind that but I wanted something a bit more simple. Classic. And I've seen some other amazing photographers with these fantastic handwritten type logos. And I absolutely adore them!
Insert my recent purchase of a Wacom editing tablet. This thing is amazing. And while playing around with it, I realized I could do a custom logo, with the handwritten look I so much love. So I did! And I love the new look!
So, folks, go check it out. Slowly I'll be changing over the images here to reflect the new logo as sessions happen...its just too much work to re-stamp the logo on the images already here ;)
Enjoy! xoxo
Oh gosh, this gorgeous girl!! Gabby was a natural in front of the camera and the evening couldn't have been more perfect. Her style was amazing, and we just had a blast! And for those water shots...she was a trooper, even in the mucky mud! Congrats, Gabby, on your senior year!
This couple could not be ANY more beautiful, or in love. We had our session on the first day that spring was just starting to peek thru...the temps were still cold, but warm enough that we didn't freeze the first five minutes. Obviously they didn't mind ;) Their late summer/fall wedding is going to be just gorgeous and I cannot wait!
Time to catch up on some blogging! This past fall I had the privilege of photographing some seriously gorgeous seniors. Sabrina was definitely one of them...so much style and beauty, and we had an absolute blast! She brought along quite the entourage (and wardrobe) and I wanted to share some faves <3
Every so often things need a refresh, right? Well, here it is...our brand new website! The old was wonderful, but its time for an update. And that goes for our blog. Stay tuned here for more postings of what we've been up to and the latest happenings. I'll be posting some of my favorite shoots from this past fall and winter, which I have neglected on our old blog ;)
Thanks for stopping by!
