If there ever was a perfect day for a wedding, Grace and Robert’s wedding day was it. Which was actually funny because the forecast was calling for storms and GAIL force winds. Imagine that as your forecast for your wedding day! Well, we started off arriving at the Airbnb that Grace’s family had rented and of course you have the beach, an amazing home, and the anticipation of the celebration and you’ve got all the elements for an amazing start to the day. Grace has AMAZING style and I loved all…

Sam and Riley will forever be favorites of mine to photograph. I remember their engagement session, it was the perfect spring day with snow still on the ground, but clear, sunny skies and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We laughed and wandered around the Petoskey area and got a taste of what these two were going to be like on the wedding day. I could hardly wait in anticipation! And their wedding day was every bit amazing, and more so, than the engagement session. Another perfect weather day with abundant sunshine, and these two even more radiant in love.
We started out photographing their getting ready at the Leland Lodge…
Literally a fairytale. That’s the only way to describe this beautiful wedding, one perfect summer day in Charlevoix, Michigan. Castle Farms is always a favorite (I mean, who wouldn’t want to get married in a castle…
Amanda and Sam are those kind of couple that is just FUN. We had the best time on their wedding day in Grand Rapids. The day itself was rain, then sun, then cloudy, then rain….and more rain. And it kept going in that pattern the whole…
You guys know how much we love to travel, right? Even when we aren’t traveling, we are totally playing tourist all around Traverse City and the surrounding Northern Michigan areas, exploring and playing and just finding those hidden gems in our beautiful state. Which is why we are itching to have spring finally arrive…we enjoy winter but 99% of our exploring and getting outside is during the warm summer months.
Having hit all 50 states this past year, we have most definitely explore lots of our country as well. Well, Colorado is one of those places I can visit again and again. And again. It’s incredible with so much diverse landscape and a total dream to photograph in. I was SO happy it worked out to photograph Sierra and Charlie’s engagement there this past fall! Their wedding will be back here in Michigan, but capturing them…
You guys! It’s our 3rd year in a row to win this award and we are HONORED to receive it! And as always, always, ALWAYS, it’s a recognition of the amazing vision and hard work each of our couples put into their wedding day, which lives on to…
FTD Wedding Bouquet Feature
Rochill Studio, Traverse City and Northern Michigan Wedding Photographer
I love many, MANY aspects of a wedding day. The dress, the food, the music, and of course I love all the florals! Picking a wedding bouquet can be more stressful than people realize…it ties much of a wedding theme together with the colors and style. There’s a ton of options out there but FTD.com put together a super sweet inspiration post highlighting a popular choice in the late summer/fall: sunflowers! And features a gorgeous bouquet from one of our weddings!!

Mackinac Island Destination Wedding Photography Feature
One super special wedding we had the privilege of photographing last summer was Lindsey and Conner's sweet family tying the knot at Mackinac Island's Mission Point Resort. We blogged this wedding before (if you scroll past entries you'll see it!) and I am SO happy to have this wedding featured on Big Love Small Weddings today! From their fudge cake to the carriage ride around the pretty spots on the island, this wedding was everything an intimate destination wedding (for them!) could be. Northern Michigan is so beautiful and Mackinac Island just provided the absolute perfect backdrop for their nautical themed wedding.

Last year we were SO honored to be given the 2017 Editor's Choice award. I probably said it then, but when my couple's put so much hard work into their weddings and I have the privilege of capturing the culmination of that blood, sweat, and tears, it's the cherry on top when their wedding is showcased to the world by other wedding blogs and magazines, showing all the other brides planning their wedding inspiration they can use on their day. It's amazing!!
Two Bright Lights is a wedding platform that so, so many of those wedding blogs and magazines use and it streamlines the submission process for us photographers. This award recognizes the best-of-the-best of the photographers who submit their weddings to be published by the wedding blogs and magazines. And...we were chosen for this again!!! The 2018 Editor's Choice Award recognizes the top 1% of those photographers and vendors who submit their work for publication.
It's an absolute honor for me to be recognized, but nothing would happen if not for my amazing clients who entrust me with their wedding day. So let's all have a collective high five/pat on the back/cheers and celebrate!!
I cannot say how much I love when client families turn into wonderful relationships. I've been able to work with member's of Jimmy's family now for a number of weddings and sessions and his family are some of the best people I know. So when these two got engaged and contacted me about photographing their wedding, I was SO SO SO happy! That, and the fact...
