Jimmy + Haz, Detroit Area Wedding
Traverse City Wedding Photographer, Rockhill Studio
Jimmy + Haz. To say this wedding day was an absolute dream is an understatement. I'll never forget our engagement session we had with these two, wandering around Grand Rapids capturing some amazing images and I had truly been counting down the days till their wedding day. Of course, the forecast ALL week long leading up to the wedding was a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms. But even with that forecast looming, I knew that this day would be incredible no matter what. And it was.
It was humid. Like, we were in the tropics humid. But the rain mostly held off and we were able to have the outdoor ceremony only getting rained out for a very short time after the nuptials! And that was just how the day went...it went better than we could have hoped and prayed for. The details that Haz and Jimmy put together were so classy and gorgeous and everything photographed to perfection. I love this couple so much (and their amazing families!) and it was such a huge honor to be their photographer for the day! The venue at Cherry Creek Country Club near Detroit, MI, was gorgeous and from the flowers to the food (you guys, the food….don’t even get me started, I can still taste the deliciousness), it all came together in a perfect day.
Nothing like a little dancing with your girls to get the day started!!
Jimmy and Haz chose not to see each other before the ceremony, but still wanted a quiet moment together, by themselves beforehand. It was literally the sweetest moment!!
Haz pretty much wins at all things bridal. She’s just so perfect!
The venue was gorgeous and the ceremony space overlooking the golf course was absolutely picture perfect.
In all our weddings we’ve had the privilege to photograph, we’ve never done a painting before! Some couples are very traditional with a unity candle, some with sand, or a tree planting, but I love this canvas they can hang in their house and look at daily.
At this point during the cocktail hour, right when we were finishing up a few family photos before we started on the bride and groom portraits, it rained. And rained hard!! I’m SO thankful it didn’t last overly long, but still long enough that we did have to find a spot for the whole wedding party (you’ll see below!)
At the country club entrance was a perfect covered area we were able to get what we needed despite the rain, and large enough to accommodate this gorgeous wedding party.
And…we were able to sneak outside for a few brief moments for some pictures, which I always LOVE doing with my couples. Especially during summer weddings when it’s so hot during the day and everyone is running on so much energy from the ceremony…it’s so nice to be able to take a breath during the reception and just steal away from the noise and crowd and have a moment to focus on each other. And usually in the most perfect, golden light of the setting sun. Yeah, it’s my favorite.
