Escanaba Summer Wedding, Adoree + Steve
Summer in Northern Michigan is absolutely spectacular. It's the *perfect* temperature, low humidity (I mean, for the most part!) with endless beaches and water, pine forests, and much to see and do. So summer in Michigan is the perfect place for a wedding. But, as much as you try and plan out every detail of the wedding day, you also have to plan for rain. And that's what Rae and Steve had to contend with. Rain. And LOTS of it.
The forecast didn't give us much hope, as much as we tried to be optimistic. It wasn't a light mist rain, it was a soaking rain that wouldn't relent. The decision was made to move the wedding indoors and we did as much inside as we could with portraits and such but finally, the radar showed an area of clearing approaching and I was never so happy to see the sun as I was for this couple. It was the cherry on top to get a few outdoor pictures to round out their wedding day story.
But even despite the setback and disappointment we had the first half of the day, you could not deny the happiness and love these two had for each other. The guests were nothing but smiles as they celebrated the couple and they refused to let the rain dampen the party (yes, pun intended!). Here are a few from their wonderful, beautiful wedding day...
The bride and groom exchanged letters to each other just before they walked down the isle and those are happy tears if I ever saw any!!
After the ceremony and family portraits, the wedding party hopped on the bus to enjoy a few drinks while we waited for the rain to stop.
....and it did clear!! We went to a park where it had been specially mowed and cleared just for the ceremony and of course after all that hard work, we had to take at least a few pictures there!
We went down to the marina next and it was a bit breezy, but again, no rain so we were so happy!!
Then, back to the reception!
And of course sneaking off for a few more pictures of the bride and groom. Always a favorite.
