Jackie and Roy had the *perfect* day for their engagement session. I'm always a little bit on edge when a client is traveling for their engagement session, I always want the perfect weather for them, and Jackie and Roy totally hit the jackpot. It was perfect out. A gorgeous, endless summer day. I love shooting at the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore, right in Munising, MI. It has really grown with tourists during the summer months, but Miner's Falls, while pretty popular, is not exactly on the beaten path. So while there are people in this spot, it's never overly crowded. The beach, however, you can find a mini city there on a warm day. BUT, in the evening, everyone has gone home for the day and usually we have the beach mostly to ourselves. I was counting on that and thankfully that was our case! Jackie and Roy didn't really have a particular spot in mind so when they asked for a favorite, pretty location, I suggested this one and the rest is history!! With their engagement session in this spot, and their wedding at the GORGEOUS Chateau Chantal here in Traverse City this next year, they are going to have some amazing pictures from their love story!
After the waterfall, we headed down to the beach area! All along Lake Superior there are gorgeous woodsy areas before you get to the actual beach which are wonderful for pictures!
I love this ring shot. It's so perfect for Northern Michigan. It was prime blueberry season, and most of the tourists had already picked the bushes of wild blueberries clean, but while Jackie and Roy were having a quick outfit change, my husband and I scoured the foliage for a few berries and we found these! It was perfect for a ring shot!
When we got to the beach, the sun was just going down and it was perfect. My favorite time to shoot here on this beach, about the last 15 minutes before the sun disappears completely from view.
We captured so many amazing images from their engagement session but I'm obsessed with this one! A total favorite. The pictured rocks in the background, this gorgeous couple dancing on the beach...it's so perfect.
