The best thing in the world is when clients turn friends. I've had the immense pleasure of photographing the Lemanski family numerous times starting in the fall of 2015 when I photographed Matt's sister and her fiancé for their engagement session. Soon after that session, Emma and Matt got engaged and I was beyond thrilled to also book them for their wedding in Minnesota for...
You know you have the best couples ever when photographing them has you feeling like you are just hanging out with two of your old friends. I never want any of my sessions to end, I always have a great time with my couples, but I might have cried a little bit inside when Jocelyn and Tanner's session came to a close! From laughing and talking almost non-stop, our adventures around the island was the perfect way to highlight this couple's...
Kory and Chelsea...I cannot say enough amazing things about this couple! I remember chatting with them about their wedding day during the engagement session (which you can view HERE if you wish!) and I remember thinking about how excited I was with all they described and had planned. As the big day drew closer and we finalized the wedding day photography details, my excitement grew and grew and this spectacular wedding did not disappoint! This wedding on this hot summer day was...
Haley and Sam's engagement session this spring was amazingly perfect in every way...the locations, the weather, the couple...oh this couple!! I couldn't get enough of them, and am SO glad to share their engagement session, which is featured on Lace and Loyalty!! Check out their session HERE and leave them some love!
Eric and Erica's wedding day was a fairytale. From before the wedding all the way thru the reception, everything was magical. Erica's family has a beautiful cottage on Twin Lakes in Newberry, Michigan and we even shot their amazing engagement session here and on their property just down the road back in the fall of 2015. It's Erica's "happy place" and everything that day was perfect.
Haley and Sam are two amazing people that together make such a beautiful couple. Haley was one of my first 2017 weddings to book, so we've been looking forward to this engagement session for a few months now. When she mentioned doing the session at Presque Isle in Marquette, Michigan, I knew this would be an amazing session. I mean, Presque Isle is one of my FAVORITES to shoot at (I've blogged several sessions from there, you can totally see why!) and always love the chance to shoot there whenever possible. But also, I knew this session would be wonderful from corresponding with Haley these...
You said "I do", tied the knot, had an incredible wedding day. The images we captured are beautiful and look amazing in your online gallery. Now what? Choosing an album with a wedding package, or adding one on, is something I'm always pleased with when a couple books a package. Why? Because it's one thing to display your images online to oooh and aaaah over, but holding them in your hand, printed in a fine art album, is a whole other experience. It's not just a book. It's a showstopper. A family heirloom that your kids and their kids will look over and dream about their own wedding someday. A reflection of the best day of...
Some weddings are just so gorgeous they need to be shown off. I'm SO thrilled one of our favorites was featured twice this week, on The Luxe Pearl and WeddingWire! We posted our own blog a while ago of this wedding, but love that this couple's hard work of planning their wedding and creating such a perfect day with all the vendors involved made such a great day that it just HAS to be shared! Check out the links below and be inspired!!
I first got in touch with Emma and Matt thru Matt's sister and her fiancé (you can see their amazing engagement session HERE) when they were looking for a photographer once they became engaged. I was SO excited that Emma and Matt wanted their engagement session done in the Upper Peninsula AND in the winter. I seriously love everything about the spring/summer/fall, but there's something about a winter engagement session, and in Michigan no less, that's perfect in every way. I love that it's such a contrast from their Minnesota wedding later this...
Brides and Grooms! I wanted to take a moment to share an amazing resource available for my amazing couples planning their weddings in the gorgeous Northern Michigan area! There's a great guide that has been created just for your by the amazing people at Simply Blue Weddings. A collaboration of all things wedding related, listing vendors from stationary to transportation. I'm so thrilled for Rockhill Studio to be a part...
I love when a session with my clients gets published, and today it is one of our favorites of Joe and Teja in the gorgeous Marquette, Michigan. Thank you so much to Brown Sparrow Weddings for the feature...more
Right now it's the month of April. While the rest of the country is warm, and spring is blooming, we have school cancellations in some of the districts around us because of the snow. Seriously. So, on that snowy, cold note, I'm blogging Danielle and Cole's engagement session from February. It was a cold and snowy day then, too! Barely above freezing, and a fresh snow fall from the night before (with some still snow/blowing snow) it was a winter wonderland and made for an amazing backdrop.
Teja contacted me mid-February inquiring about an engagement session with her and her fiance, Joe, and I loved the though of doing their winter engagement session at the Presque Isle in Marquette, one of the places they brought up as a location. Always a favorite of mine, for sure! Teja was visiting Joe from Minnesota, and like most sessions where they had a small window for the session so fingers were crossed the weather would cooperate for us. The morning of the session it was gorgeous. Sunny, and not a cloud in the sky! But it was COLD! On the way to the session my car registered below zero, but thankfully but the start of the session it had warmed up into the 20's. Still cold, but that sun did feel amazing!!
Tania and Mike's engagement session was in one of my favorite places in Michigan: Mackinac Island. There's so many amazing spots on the island, so when Tania contacted me inquiring about an engagement session there, I was thrilled! Since they are not from the area and just taking a weekend for visiting, fingers were crossed for great weather...and it was. REALLY crazy windy, but overall not bad. However, Tania was under the weather with a really awful cold (which was diagnosed as pneumonia the next day!) but even with being so sick, she just ROCKED thru it! I mean, look how amazing she looks in these images?! I'm just so happy for these two and am so excited for their wedding day this coming September.
Joe and Krista's wedding day this past summer was as perfect as you can plan for. Their wedding (held on the shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais, MI) was sunny and warm, and perfect for all their guests who came in to town to celebrate. The two themselves do not live in the Upper Peninsula, but wanted to have their wedding in Grand Marais, and I was so overjoyed the day started so perfect for them! But this story does have a few curve balls thrown in...continue reading quite the wedding day story!
Continuing my blogging of past sessions from this summer and fall, I'm so excited to be sharing some favorites from Eric and Erica's beautiful engagement! This couple is having their wedding in my hometown, and wanted the session on some of Erica's family property. It was perfection...the day, the couple, the locations. I just loved every second of these two and while I didn't include any below, there was SO many fun and goofy moments that I cannot wait to continue with their spring wedding in a few months!
Hi Friends! Coming up soon (March 12) we are hosting a beginner's photography course as part of MSU Extension program with the Winter Break for Knowledge. This is perfect for those who have a "fancy" camera and don't understand it or know how to use it. Do you already have basic camera knowledge? Not a problem, we will be covering composition and practicing shooting with the techniques learned in class! Click the picture for more info, or shoot us over a message!
